The SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SOCIETY FOR MICROSCOPY & MICROANALYSIS is dedicated to increasing interest and information in all areas of microscopy and microanalysis, including, but not limited to: transmission electron, scanning electron and electron microprobe, ion probe, microbeam analysis, optical and confocal microscopies, and microspectroscopies.

We are excited to announce our first image contest! Send us your most visually stunning images from any type of microscope for a chance to win one of five $10 gift cards!
We will announce the winners at our Spring Meeting on February 7. The contest is open to both members and non-members.
Please email your entries to the President of SCSMM until January 31. The images should be in tif, jpg or pdf format, with at least 300dpi resolution. Please provide name, title, short description, and institution.
The images will be displayed on the website scsmmimages.wordpress.com as well as on our Facebook page, and judged by the SCSMM board imaging committee. The image with the most likes on Facebook will get the popularity award with a $20 starbucks gift card.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Caltech. As has been tradition, this meeting will be a full-day Symposium with awards for best student talk and best student poster. Our featured speaker this year wil l be Kent McDonald from UC Berkeley speaking on "Rapid Specimen Preparation Procedures for Resin Embedding of Cryofixed Biological Samples". Additionally, the winners of the Image Contest will be announced.
